Art Brut – Your Enemies Are My Enemies Too

It’s almost been twelve months since Art Brut released their album, Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! We did hear from Eddie Argos and the gang back in April when they teamed up with We Are Scientists, for that sweet Traveling Wilburys cover, and today there’s good news – the creative momentum is being maintained with the release of a new video, ‘Your Enemies Are My Enemies Too’ lifted from Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock out!. Bonus news: Art Brut will be touring the UK in March 2020 in a string of dates with The Subways.

The video features none other than Tony Slattery, a man who will blush at being called a genuine British comedy legend. For years Argos has celebrated an apparent physical similarity to Slattery. His Twitter tag reads, “The singer in Art Brut. A lo fi punk rock mother fucker. Reasonably tall. Looks a bit like Tony Slattery.” Yeah, we get it; floppy dark hair, broad shoulders and a mouth that wouldn’t melt butter.

Anyway, the video marries Argos’s love of comic books with a tale of two former super-villain rivals, apparently lamenting their retirement. They rekindle their dynamic in a united effort to crush the ‘squeaky clean’ Captain Fanastic (played by Michael Legge). With a voice over by Helen Love to kick things off, this is a bit of fried gold, and classic Art Brut.

Check out the video, then scroll down for Art Brut’s live dates with The Subways.
